Wu & Associates performed a whole building renovation to the historic Building 55, in the Portsmouth Navy Yard. The overall preservation goal was to minimize any negative cultural impact to the building, and retain the historic fabric, character, and general appearance of the building. The project included approximately 3,400 sf of repairs, alterations, and renovations to the main and ancillary buildings. Improvements included low flow plumbing fixtures, automated building controls, highly efficient HVAC and lighting systems, and advanced energy metering devices. This project was an Energy Special Project, and was awarded LEED-NC Gold Certification by the US Green Building Council.
