Tule Lake Historic Jail Restoration

“Wu & Associates performance on this project demonstrated a very high capacity in the art of Historic Preservation. This is a key area that must be commended. This particular restoration project included sensitive materials and difficult scopes of work, which the Contractor performed very well. Of note was the consolidation and protection of historic graffiti, the refabrication of historic elements, and the epoxy injection of historic board formed concrete. Cultural Resources staff at the Park was consistently very pleased with the quality and workmanship exhibited by this Contractor.

I was very pleased with the professionalism and performance exhibited by Wu & Associates throughout the project. The restoration of a National Landmark historic board formed concrete jail with a period of performance that spanned through winter months was not a simple project and was one that required a high level of expertise and attention to detail. Further the project was in a remote area and, I was impressed by the quality of sub- contractors the prime was able to recruit as part of the project team. The Change Order rate was very low and the Contractor was very successful in delivering this project on budget. I generally expect much higher change order rates on Historic Projects due to an expected level of unknowns.

Wu & Associates showed a clear pride in their work and consistently went above and beyond in production of mock-ups to ensure NPS staff was pleased with the quality of workmanship they would put into the building. It was a pleasure working with this contractor, and I would absolutely want to work with them again on a future project.”
Michael Hogan, AIA - Project Manager, National Park Service

Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Design-Build

“As the Commanding Officer of the site, I interacted frequently with both the management and field personnel from Wu & Associates. I was very impressed with their focus, customer relations, and execution. Their organizational strength and intellectual capabilities far exceeds that of other contractors I have dealt with throughout my 24 year career.

One of the biggest challenges at the site was to handle the logistics of our various units. In support of national operations our unit personnel and equipment was flowing in and out of the facility regularly and it was important for my organization to know that the contractor was doing everything they could to accommodate our operational needs. Wu & Associates was able to meet this challenge by working together with my staff to anticipate and service our needs.

I highly recommend Wu & Associates for the design-build or general construction of future projects where intellect, fairness, and good customer service is required.”
LTC Howard Hostrander – Retired Commanding Officer, United States Army

“The experience of working with your staff has been a pleasure. Wu & Associates has been organized from the start, with a clear understanding of the project issues and details. Your review of the drawings and specifications, as they were developed, will be a benefit to all involved in the construction. The Wu Team knows the critical items in the project and keeps all involved focused on resolving the problems as they arise.

Wu & Associates has shown an attention to the project details during project planning that is reaping benefits during the construction. I acknowledge your management style, which is a clear manifestation of your integrity and work ethic.”

Hinchliffe Stadium Project Team, Historic Restoration

“You guys have been great and responsive to many twists in the project to date, for example 1) providing estimates and executing the concrete blocks in the ticket booths instead of the window systems 2) switching from copper gutters to galvanized 3) getting the shoring for sign 1 and carpentry to protect the artwork that was restored, and there are others.”
Gianfranco Archimede – Director, Historical Preservation City of Paterson New Jersey

SUNY New Paltz, Renovation

“I recently worked with Kirby and his team of associates on a recent $1.6 million dollar project to renovate three sixty-year-old buildings. This project had an extremely tight time constraint for the amount of work required. I found the entire Wu & Associates, Inc. team to be very professional, dedicated to their work, available at all times, quick to respond to any details, and efficient with their time and management of all their various sub-contractors.
This project came in on time and budget, and all the requested change order work was completed by the substantial completion date and time frame. This is very impressive given the scope of work, base bid, and change order work.”

Louis Kahn’s Trenton Bath House & Day Camp, Historic Restoration

“Wu & Associates has been by far the best contractor I’ve ever worked with. They see an issue and come up with great solutions to expedite the project and save money. They were considerably lower than the rest of the bidders and helped incredibly during value engineering to come up with solutions that actually allowed the project to proceed. They are extremely reasonable when it comes to pricing on change order work. They are fair and honest - a rare quality in a contractor. I would Mercer County is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Wu and Associates on the restoration of the Louis I. Kahn Bathhouse and Day Camp in Ewing Township, New Jersey. This State and Federal registered property was one of Kahn’s early works where he experimented with “reserved"' and "servant” spaces. The property receives visitors from around the world and was featured in the documentary, "My Architect".

We are very pleased with the end product. The project began in January 2010 and was hampered by bad weather for several months. Wu and Associates reworked the schedule to complete as much work as possible in horrid weather.

This high profile project has had many visitors during construction and the Day Camp is operating at full capacity. The swimming pool, immediately adjacent to the Bath House, is also in operation. Wu and Associates has been extremely flexible in accommodating visitors, campers and swimmers in and near the active construction site. It has been a pleasure working with Kirby and the entire Wu team.”

Dubois Regional Airport Runway Antenna, Distinct & Specialized Project

“Wu and Associates, Inc. has demonstrated excellent construction and field project management skills. Their selection and vetting process of lower-tier subcontractors was great. The selected subcontractors demonstrated a top-notch performance in terms of work quality, proficiency and meeting of the construction schedule. Work was completed on-schedule, despite difficult weather conditions. We are very satisfied with the work completed by Wu and Associates, Inc.”

New Milford Plant at Hackensack Water Works, Historic Preservation

“The dedication of the team from Wu & Associates to the project and to seeing it done right made working with them a pleasure. When power to the site was an issue, they adjusted quickly and brought in their own generators to keep on schedule. They provided ingenious solutions to solving structural issues all while conforming to building codes and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the treatment of historic structures. The site supervisor, his crew and those of the subcontractors were highly skilled, respectful and truly enjoyed their work which showed in all of my interactions with them.”
Elaine Kiernan Gold – Historic Preservationist, Bergen County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs

The onsite management team was professional and the subcontractors demonstrated high levels of expertise. I would work with this company again without hesitation.”

Historic Old Clarksburg School, Historic Restoration

“It is a genuine pleasure and honor for me to recommend Wu & Associates for any municipal projects in the future. This was a great collaborative effort between the architect, the contractors, and the Township. It was a pleasurable experience to work with Wu & Associates.
Because of the historical nature of the building their attention to detail was magnificent. The numerous unforeseen issues that arose throughout the two phases were handled with professionalism, understanding, and cooperation.

Wu & Associates, by far, the very best contractor I have had to work with over the years. They kept to the schedule, overcame many situations that most contractors would have avoided. Even long after the project was closed out to everyone’s satisfaction, Wu & Associates came back to the job site because of minor issues, and handled them with the utmost professionalism and cooperation when they did not have to do so. They took great pride in their work long after the job was completed. You can’t say enough good things about this company.”
